Matthew Griffin

Matthew is a senior real estate development executive specializing in the alignment of capital, execution, and long-term asset performance. As Senior Vice President of Griffin Living, he supports corporate operations and development strategy across a multi-state portfolio of senior housing communities, working closely with firm leadership to guide projects from early conception through stabilization and long-term ownership.
With more than 30 years of experience, Matthew has directed the full lifecycle of complex real estate developments, integrating disciplined capital structuring with hands-on execution. His experience includes projects representing more than $2 billion in total transaction and market value, spanning senior housing, multifamily, and large-scale residential platforms.
Matthew brings a coordinated leadership approach that aligns investors, operators, designers, and public-sector stakeholders around a unified vision—helping deliver projects that are both operationally successful and responsive to the communities they serve.
Recent work includes the development of Varenita of West Cobb, The Georgian Lakeside, and The Sheridan at Eastside, where he has led site selection, entitlement strategy, product development, capital formation, and operational positioning.
Earlier in his career, Matthew held leadership roles in large-scale residential development, overseeing the planning and delivery of master-planned communities that integrated residential, commercial, and civic components, including schools and public open space. This foundation continues to inform his approach to entitlement strategy, placemaking, and long-term value creation.
Matthew is active in industry leadership and professional organizations, including the American Seniors Housing Association (ASHA), the National Investment Center for Seniors Housing & Care (NIC), and the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association (GAHB). He has previously served on the Government Affairs Council of the Building Industry Association of Southern California.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities from UCLA and an MBA from Boston College’s Carroll School of Management.
