Richard K. Deason is General Counsel at Griffin Living.
He is a highly experienced in-house attorney and general counsel, as well as a seasoned dispute resolution professional. Richard has over 30 years of experience providing strategic assessment and advice to management, negotiating and drafting complex agreements, assuring regulatory compliance, providing leadership, and effectively resolving litigation and reducing claims expense.
Formerly, Richard was Senior Vice President and General Counsel at Griffin Real Estate Management and The Griffin Homebuilding Group. He oversaw action around real estate development, income properties, and capital management and served as the chief legal strategist for the repositioning of multiple complex real estate projects.
Richard had also served as a private contract mediator at Deason Resolution Group where he mediated 543 litigation cases. 504 of them resulted in settlements.
Richard is a member of the California Bar Association, and has been admitted to the U.S. District Courts, Central and Southern District. He holds a Juris Doctorate from Ventura College of Law and an LL.M from Pepperdine University School of Law, with an emphasis in Dispute Resolution.
